Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate alongside her on some of the songs. She was officially signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was supported by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video then released in September. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. The singer appeared alongside Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16th, and she released the song in a solo version for her debut album. In February of 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. The track has received nearly 3 million hits on YouTube within the first week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
